Happy 2008 everyone! Numerologists say 8 is the year for money, sounds good to me! OK, I don’t do New Years Resolutions anymore; I mean why set myself up for failure, right? But my new thing is to think of a “theme” for the year… such as “a spending diet”, “more self-care”, “having more fun”, or “more quality time with the kids”. For example, when I read Babette’s editorial in Military Spouse magazine about committing to spending some mommy, cookies & milk, and homework time after school I though what a great “theme”! Some well known coaches even recommend having your own theme song to remind you of your theme! I think my 2008 song will be “a women’s work” because I am so vision oriented as a coach that I forget to stop and enjoy the moment. I want to savor every moment with my newborn and not think about work so much. The song relaxes me, and I think I like Maxwell’s version even better than the original artist Kate Bush. I am working with several military spouse clients that are looking to find clarity in 2008, and currently coming up with their theme and songs. Playing the songs helps them think of the the steps required to get focused and develop strategies that will move them closer to their vision of success. So what better way to get started in 2008 than to think up a theme song? How about getting rid of the proverbial …”My resolution is to lose 10 pounds” and turn on the radio! I would love to hear if other spouses have thought of a 2008 song for themselves? Here’s to 2008 being personally fulfilling!! Krista

Remember Skee-lo? “I wish I was a little bit taller….” Theme song for life.
Wow. That’s a toughy. Can we have a few theme songs?
For my kids: They LOVE “Cars” so I’d have to stick with “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts.
For my husband: “Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. Hmm. Do we see a theme emerging?
Maybe I should just by their CD, huh?
Hmm… that is a tough one. I’d have to go with “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra, I believe, cuz just like it says, that’s life and you gotta take what you get and make it better
There are so many good songs out there that give me motivation. But the one I like the best for this year is “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty. Another I always like to include is Chunbawumba’s “I Get Knocked Down”.
You’ll laugh because this song is so old, but ‘(You gotta have) Faith’ by George Michael would have to be mine. We’ve got a lot going on this year…
I agree with “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. That has always been my personal motto/theme song.
What a great idea! Picking just one song is a tough one though. I think I’d have to pick one of my favorite songs: Shine by Salvador.
Hi Krista,my name is Rod Butler.I represent MoRo Entertainment.Recently,I’ve co-written and produced a song titled “Waiting Here” by Tonya Beaudet. The song was written to encourage the families and friends of men and women serving in the armed forces. Please let us know your opinion. Perhaps it can be an inspiration to the Milspouse group regarding theme songs for 2008 or anyone else who you think the song will encourage. Thank you for your time…I wish you continued success.
