Remember dips and sauces. My son loves veggies especially when he can have different sauces with them. He likes cheddar cheese, ranch and french dressing especially. He also likes the meat tomato sauce as a dip to.

Jessica's cookbook... why would you "lie" to your kids.. and not expect them to do the same to you later? Why would you be deceptive to them? I think concept of the cookbook is morally wrong. Just my two cents. Cook for your family, put it on the table, and make them sit there. If they don't eat then they don't eat. They will eat when they get hungry. Pickiness won't last long..
be the parent.
I have 4 children.

You should check out that new book by Jessica Seinfeld, if you haven't already. Someone recently turned me on to the book and there are some terrific recipes that will fool even the pickies eater.

Check out some of the recipes on the forum. There are a lot of easy things on there. I like the Steak burrito recipe on there. It looks pretty easy. We too have been doing home made pizza, chicken nuggets, green beans (my kids call them green french fries) salad, PB&J's, sliced apples, carrots, spaghetti, ravioli(frozen ones). I make my spaghetti sauce is big batches and also chicken soup in big batches and then freeze off the rest into smaller meal sized batches! That makes for convenience later on cause I can just pull it out of the freezer thaw it and eat. I feel as though many of us are in a similar dilemma. So much to do so little time to cook! :) Keep your chin up! The worst will soon be over! HUGS!

I was just having this conversation with myself, ha! My son LOVES those frozen pizza's on french bread and chicken quesadillas and I think that has been his dinner at least 3 times this week. I'm not sure I'll remember how to cook a full meal when my husband gets home. Then again, he is real cook at our house. I'm with you Krista - I need help with some cooking ideas!

It can be difficult. Now is the time to pick up the precut things/salad bar selections and the things you think your kids will like but are easy and healthy.

if your kids are like mine, you can pick up mini carrots, prepackaged celery, cucumber and red pepper from the salad bar and a bottle of (mine only wanted the brand name one, but of course, they also preferred the one you had to mix - tough luck kids - sometimes the jarred one has to do) ranch salad dressing. put the veggies on a nice platter and the "dip" in a bowl. let the kids single dip their veggies.. as part of dinner. the precooked stuff like the chicken is also easy. and kids will usually eat it. you can get just drumsticks if that is what they prefer. (already made.) if you have a rice cooker and they like rice, make rice. or cook potatoes (or reheat frozen ones).
my kids liked the canned potatoes roasted in the oven. no fuss no muss and easy they can be cooked at any temp (i usually do 300-= 400 degrees) for 30 minutes or so until slightly golden. i spray them with vegetable oil first and put them on a foil lined (no clean up) pan and if you want, you can sprinkle them with paprika or any spice or herb you want. my kids like plain or paprika.

think about premade salad and frozen lasagna. again no real work.

soup and grilled cheese and veggies again makes a good and easy dinner.

don't forget most kids love fish sticks and they are high in calories and fat, but they are a good fish, so on one hand not the greatest, but on the other hand, they have good nutrition.

Go and buy those premade pizza crusts and different toppings that your kids like. Mix some baby food veggies in with pizza sauce, put toppings in bowls and let your kids make their own pizzas. It is fun and gives them something to do. Plus pizza is one of the healthiest foods that you can have and can hardly taste baby squash that is in the sauce through everything else going on.
