I have a cleaning lady who comes once a week. This is mostly due to my extremely pregnant state (I will give birth to a baby in two weeks) my mom’s support (there is no-one like mom…) and the fact that my five kids are very little.
Cleaning lady equals luxury to me. To afford it, I had to cut our not so large military family budget. So I gave up the ‘occasional’ Starbucks or snack, the expensive ($50) hair cut, having my car washed deluxe package – where you also get that nice freshener shaped like a little tree inside the car and the seats shampooed - the emergency phone calls from my cell to my sister in Italy in case of emotional crisis – usually I ate too much, I had a fight with my husband- all to be able to walk into a clean and perfumed home.
The first moment when I see my home after my cleaning lady has come is orgasmic. I almost don’t recognize the place as the one I inhabit with my six little savages.
Two days ago my cleaning lady told me that she was raising her prices by $5 because of an upcoming expense…getting her boobs done. Told me straight out – she is a size D right now and wants to upgrade to a size DD. I pretended to be surprised by the fact that she had her boobs done, “Oh really you had your breasts done? Oh…hum….” But she probably noticed that I was faking it.
I mean this lady has gigantic boobs. The first time I saw her I thought they weren’t real. Seriously her boobs are in the Pamela Anderson’s category - ginormous, perky, round – they stare straight at you. Not that I want to ogle, but the size of those babies and the outfits she wears make it virtually impossible not to notice. Of course, when I pointed this out to my husband he said he never noticed ….yeah right. Anyway – besides the point. Who cares right?
I guess I do. Seems strange that I am making sacrifices and in the process helping sponsor her new boobs. Maybe I shouldn’t……
No, who am I kidding, I won’t do anything about it aside from complaining in my blog. I’ll suck up the money and pay.
One better idea would be to ask for a sneak peak when she gets her boobs done again, maybe I will be inspired to have my own boobs done and then I will start picking up jobs to sponsor my own booby cause.

Hilarious! I understand your feelings of regret in regards to making all of these financial sacrifices to see that the money is ultimately going to an unnecessary cause.
My opinion, KEEP FOCUSED! You have 5 wonderful little ones who will, like tazmanian devils, make it seem as if a tornado came ROARING through your home!!! It’s not about the money AT ALL… it’s really about the EXTRA quality time you are going to have that you are actually PAYING FOR :). How strange that in this world we really do have to PAY to build relationships with our little ones…in one way or another- Cleaning Lady or DayCare.
My love goes out to you sister, you have been blessed in a mighty way by to be able, and chosen, to bring 6 new lives into the world!!! Make the most of your extra time doing things to bond with your little one who you are carrying: stretching, squatting, and deep breathing while listening to relaxing music
Although by now I’m sure there isn’t any advice I can give you…I’m only a mother of 1 but I plan to have 5 or 6
Take Care, Congrats, and have a safe labor & delivery…See our website on how to win $100 toward your registry.
If she is your employee and is paid for what she does, I would say how she spends her money is her business.
Wow _ I can’t believe she actually told you that. The last she could have done was tell you that her raised prices were going to benefit a needed surgery for a dear loved one (her husband?)!! Oh well, the feelings you get when you walk into the sparkling clean home are worth every penny.. .THAT’S what your money is really going towards!
ROFL
She actually told you WHY she’s raising her prices. LOL
That is..well…priceless!
Is your hubby deployed? I hope u get rid of this boob lady when he returns.
Maybe if you increase her hourly rate again she might have another boob job!!
xx
if I pay out for a service which I need, should I care the way how those money will be used for??? Focus on your main problem: can u handle the new price or chose to live without a maid….
