My Favorite Summer Drink

If I had to pick my absolute favorite summer drink I would surely have a hard a time! Some top contenders might be an ice cold Coke Zero, then again maybe it’s a Cherry Limeade from Sonic. I believe Sonic has the very best ice on the planet, which adds to the pleasure of this refreshing summer treat. Or, maybe it would be a pina colada with a pineapple wedge and cherry on top! Wait, maybe it’s a glass of Sangria with lots of fresh fruit. yummm

But no, none of these are my favorite today.

Today, my absolute favorite is the Iced Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks. I decided to visit the drive thru at lunch and was surprised to see my friend Sherri at the window. She did a great job making my summer treat.

$4.10 later I was experiencing my own bit of heaven on earth.

It was SO good I determined I had to find out how to make my own. So, I Google’d “how to make an Iced Carmel Macchiato”. How hard could it be right? Well, according to the recipe I found it doesn’t seem to difficult….there is just one thing. Well a couple of things, is it requires espresso and milk foam…hmmm….I’m thinking I need to add a machine that will do all of that to my wish list. I wonder how many I’ll have to make before I break even….

What is your favorite summer drink?

MMmmm. Those do sound yummy. Great, now I am super thirsty! :o)My faves are ice cold cola (I’m not too picky about brand) and definitely a caramel frappacino light from Starbuck’s. I’ll have to try a couple of those you mentioned too…

Now, there you go making me thirsty. I’ve always enjoyed the Strawberry Lemonade at Ruby Tuesday’s. Of course, I’m always partial to an ice-cold Coca Cola.

I’m a weirdo; I drink hot coffee all summer long. If I’m just relaxing with friends, though, nothing beats a cold beer or a nice gin and tonic. In the evenings, I like a slightly chilled glass of red wine.

I am so glad that I am not crazy! I always tell people that Sonic has the best ice and they look at me like I am from another planet. I love cherry Limeades… almost enough to drive the three hours it takes to get to the closet Sonic…almost. :) Meanwhile I make due with Passion Tea Lemonade from Starbucks… with very inferior ice.

I love Coca Cola in the small glass bottles. I bought little 6-packs from our commissary for ages- and they were cheap- until they stopped stocking them. (Sigh.) I’ve also discovered I like Mojitos. Yesterday I found some actual sugar cane juice and made authentic ones- heavenly!

MMM! A Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato add a shot and with extra extra caramel Sauce! I found a machine for sale at Starbucks last year. It was half off and I HAD to have it! It was a great investment and I use it often. I also love a Strawberry Colada from Chili’s and occasionally when the mood strikes me I like Extra Super Dirty Martinis and the occasional glass of wine is always nice too! We always have sweet tea & Strawberry lemonade in the house. I like to make my tea as follows: part green tea and part peach tea to give it flavor. Very good!

FYI - we got an espresso machine (that, yes, also steams your milk) at Walmart for about $50… not bad… of course it’s not the super fancy deluxe $300 moddel that you can buy at Starbucks… but it does the job! Good luck!

There is nothing like a nice tall glass of ice cold sweet tea! Can you tell I’m from the south? :-)

I am getting some new ideas of drinks to try!

I have to say I have no idea what is in a “Extra Super Dirty Martini”??

Hey, I want a “mocha frap”!

    ;)

Wendy- It is a martini with lots and lots of olive juice which is the “dirty” in a dirty martini. (must be the Mediterranean in me that loves those olives)LOL! I think I like more of the olive juice than liquor HA! Great post BTW!

Hillary- Thanks for the compliment on the Mocha Fraps. I am glad you enjoyed them. You are welcome to come bye and have them any time!

Kristy- you just reminded me that I have some fresh Iced Tea waiting for me in the fridge. I like to put one bag of peach tea in there to “spice it up” too! MMMM!

Wendy, I knew we had a lot in common. Cherry limeades at Sonic AND Iced Caramel Macchiatos! I agree with Jessica about the extra shot of espresso and caramel!
We are visiting the states from overseas this summer. Since our family is mostly in the South, we have been in NC SC GA FLA and now ALA. In other words: Sonic heaven! Cherry limeades and chocolates malts in abundance!!
Starbucks is everywhere now too, even small towns — back home (our European home, that is) the nearest is more than an hour’s drive.
I know it’s possible to make those drinks myself (I have done it) but I have to say that walking into Starbucks and smelling that smell and looking at the latest overpriced coffee cups is at least half of the experience for me! I’m soaking it up before we head back across the pond!
I’m so glad that when I read this post I am in the states. I’m going to Starbucks today, and the next day, and the next …

I recently discovered Dunkin’ Donuts iced Carmel lattes. I’m officially addicted!! Aside from that I’d have to go with a nice glass of Sangria.

My favorite summer drink is…. a Mango Daiquiri with or without the alcohol. My favorite waitress at Chili’s has the bar make a great Mango-Strawberry version, it’s divine with the bacon cheese fries!!!!

I went into starbucks and ordered a Grande Non-fat latte with one spenda and the guy behind the counter said…”this lady wants her usual “no fun” morning coffee. Inspired by reading this post I said…Actually I’ll have a extra large (I couldn’t remember the fancy name for that one) Iced Caramel Macchiato and a lemon square!!! It was sooo much better!

OOOO Sonic!! I am in Wa. The closest sonic is 2 hrs away. But it may be worth the drive for an ice cold Strawberry Limeade with extra strawberries! For now, I will settle with a venti Passion tea with Lemonade from Starbucks.
